Atlas Processing Module

Built right into Atlas Processing Module is the AtlaSoft™ Firmware. The firmware supports each type of communication possibility currently available using Atlas. Whether using Ethernet, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, or USB, the Atlas Processing Module helps move and commands to and from a user application via the AtlaSoft Middleware.

With Atlas, interfacing sensors, actuators, or other components is simple. From analog to digital sensors, DC motors to AC switches, the Atlas Processing Module can handle a wide variety of devices. Depending on the type of Atlas Interface Module being used, the platform can connect up to 32 analog sensors, 6 digital contact sensors, 6 RC compatible servos, or up to 8 analog inputs and 32 general purpose digital I/O.

The Atlas Processing Module adds intelligence to the point of sensor and device deployment. Minimize network traffic and increase the lifespan of battery-powered nodes by putting the data filtering and aggregation commands directly on the sensor nodes. Set devices to only report data when they exceed or fall below specified threshold values. Make them report averages or medians at specified intervals. Even trigger alerts or other actions. The Atlas Processing Modules allows any sensor to become a smart sensor.

Atlas Wi-Fi Communication Module

The Atlas Wi-Fi Communication Module enables fast, secure, and reliable 802.11 b/g wireless sensor network applications. The module provides seamless communication between the Atlas nodes and the AtlaSoft Middleware. Data collected from sensors is bundled in packets and transmitted to user applications. In the same vein, commands can be sent from applications and executed on the Atlas Platform. Both behaviors allow input from and output to the Atlas device.

The AtlaSoft Middleware provides the many service discovery and configuration mechanisms necessary to create wireless programmable pervasive spaces. Middleware bundles listen for connections from Atlas Ethernet nodes, manage the sensor and actuator service bundles uploaded by the nodes, and provide mechanisms for connecting these bundles with other services and applications running in the framework.

Atlas Universal Patch Antenna

Atlas Universal Patch Antenna

The Atlas Universal Patch Antenna is designed to operate in the 2.4 GHz ISM band allowing wireless applications such as 802.11 b/g and ZigBee to use this type of antenna. A unique feature of the patch antenna is the narrow bandwidth that extends from 2.4 GHz to 2.485 GHz allowing natural filtering out of band interferences. In addition, the antenna has a typical in-band directivity gain of +3 dBi and an omni-directional radiation pattern.

The 2" x 2" lat surface feature of the patch antenna allows it to be easily mounted on top of a wireless Atlas Communication Module. This isolates the antenna from the rest of the platform and allows for a convenient, small size antenna to be mounted atop the platform. The Atlas Universal Patch Antenna is compatible with wireless Atlas Communication Modules operating in the 2.4 GHz spectrum. The antenna may also be used with other ISM band wireless products as a general purpose patch antenna with 50 Ohm characteristic impedance.

The Atlas General Purpose I/O Module is perfect for connecting a combination of digital and analog sensors to the Atlas Platform. The module allows use of up to 40 digital I/O pins as well as 8 analog input pins. The module also gives access to firmware programming headers, and power and ground pins. All headers have 0.100" spacing.

The Atlas Servo Interface Module connects up to six RC compatible DC servos to an Atlas Sensor Platform. The on board +5.0 V DC voltage regulator handles up to 5.0 A of continuous current delivering up to 25 W to the servos. All headers have 0.100” spacing, and power, ground, and signal connections are clearly labeled.

The module allows for up to 16 digital contact sensors to be attached to an Atlas Sensor Platform.
